however, the more i ponder this stuff and re-read, the more i think that only those spells that actually have 'resist' or 'disbelieve' in their descriptions were meant to be disbelieved or resisted. the rest? you have to ride it out until the time expires or a nice wizard comes along and dispels the magic. (unless you use that Timed Spells options from p.22) reading the old Wizard rules seems to support this. only Image, Illusion, or Control spells had saving throws...and the casting roll was the to hit roll. bluwiki.com/go/Tft-wizard#CASTING_SPELLS

The 4/ST check (instead of 4/DX) seems to imply that the weight of the affected objects, for a split second, is tremendously increased. The why is set dressing and largely irrelevant The 4/ST is the resist but it doesn't cost the character his/her reaction. The more I think about it the more I like the "no free lunches" when it comes to resisting spell effects. Pathfinder and D&D 3.X era games made saving throws way too easy because ability score bonuses kicked in earlier, racial bonuses are more prevalent, and classes give save bonuses earlier and yet spells and abilities DCs lag behind. In HOW you gotta compromise. Like it.

I believe just about any P spell should be retagged as P (Until resisted) or reclassified in another way to eliminate the ambiguity.

I believe just about any P spell should be retagged as P (Until resisted) or reclassified in another way to eliminate the ambiguity. some should stay P because they should not be 'resistable'. in TFT, only images, illusions, and control spells could be resisted. notice that only those spells mention unbelieve/resist in their HOW descriptions. they are the only ones that can be resisted. i like this with the caveat that the resisting is a free 4/IQ action. if you're under someone else's control, how will you 'decide' to resist? there are some spells in the HOW core that seem mis-tagged as P when I makes more sense. Healing Touch? Pain Channeling? etc.

p.s. P spells can be Dispel Magic'd by someone that knows that spell. this is cool.
