some good points yourself there, derv!
i wasn't thinking of stunts replacing skills. i hope you didn't think that i was. i was looking at these as being used in place of an attack or only using one stunt at a time. the ability to combine or chain them together is exciting and enticing to me! awesome!

I like the idea of expending EN for combination attacks, because it fits with Heroes just being a cut above the masses.
EN is literally what sets the Heroes apart from normal men and beasts. It is a measure of their destiny, how far they can push their luck, trust to fate and withstand adversity. It is their edge, their advantage.

only heroes have XP as well. unfortunately, the lack of EN or XP does not preclude monsters from having stunts, which may be called special attacks instead.
but it is nice that the heroes can pick and choose their 'stunt' at will, whether you use EN or XP. monster stunts/special attacks would most likely be randomly determined.

very true. i wouldn't give every monster or NPC special attacks. even when i did, the types available to them would usually be very limited.
something like: on any successful to-hit roll, the minotaur always rolls for damage. if the to-hit roll contained double or triple numbers (3,3,3) then roll 1d6 for a special attack/effect/stunt. 1-3 Knockdown, 4-6 Extra Attack.
