use the STRQ of weapons and the AR of armor as a special type of encumbrance. i'm going to call it Heft Dagger....STRQ=Heft=1 Rapier.....STRQ=Heft=7 etc. Leather...AR=Heft=2 Chain......AR=Heft=4 etc. total=weapon heft + armor heft + 2. for each point this total exceeds your ST, you get a -1 DX penalty. Warrior ST12 DX12 IQ10 EN8 puts on leather armor(2) and picks up broadsword(10), adjusted DX12(10) {2+10+2=14; 12-14=-2} ...removes leather and puts on chain(4), adjusted DX12(8) ...drops the broadsword and picks up a short sword, adjusted DX12(10) this may be too generous though. easily adjustable by changing that +2 constant.

I see Kashyyyk's finest has returned . The +/- 2 modifier...did you have a reason for adding it or is it arbitrary?

finest...ha ha. more like the most foolish and vocal yes, the +2 was 'arbitrary'. i didn't feel like the combination (weapons STRQ + AR) was adding up high enough to give penalties that i thought were fair. it still feels a little wimpy at +2. at +3 i would be most secure in my TRPG manliness i look at the whole equation as a belt. the +X is the belt buckle. adjusted as needed.

however, i'm really not that crazy about this idea anymore...because you have to recalculate this every time you change weapons. i think having an armor skill for each type of armor is probably best.
