How do you guys handle fighting from higher ground? Specificly, a wizard climbs atop a boulder to avoid getting eaten by wolves. From his perch, it should be hard for the wolves to hit him. When they try to jump up onto the boulder or nip at his heels, he can stab at them, preventing their ascension and inflicting damage.
A similar scenario would be two warriors fighting on a stairs, one warrior on higher ground.

Pg 44 of the HOW rulebook deals with this. Attacker on the high ground gets +2 to attack and +2 damage.

Very much so!
However, I'm trying to create an encounter with wolves and boulders. I'm afraid my players will climb the boulders (after passing a Climbing check, of course). +2 to attack and damage for characters on top of the boulders is good but what does a defender on higher ground get? Would you give the attackers on lower ground a -2 to attack and damage? Also, bear in my mind my wolf tactics will be to grapple then bite.
I'm kind of new at this. Your recommendation would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I gave the higher combatant all the advantage (+2to hit and +2damage) but did not deduct from the ability of the lower combatant to keep things clean and simple. If you'd like to add a bit more mechanical crunch to the combat, deduct -2DX from the lower attacker, but as a trade off I'd do away with the bonus to damage for the attacker! Enjoy the game!
